Thanks must go to Mawana Game Reserve, Ezemvelo’s Officers, and two locals who worked together in the community and successfully herded the thirsty herd away by late afternoon.

Earlier this week, on Tuesday and Wednesday, communities besieged EKZN with calls to move the elephants off.

The herding tools the small team used were exceptionally effective - stern voice recordings from a drone flown by a local with EKZN’s approval.

The elephants were drinking at the river, and water is scarce as no rains have fallen yet...
